At tomorrow’s council meeting, councillors face an important decision. The motion of no confidence in cabinet member responsible for education, Cllr. Huw George, submitted by Cllr. Mike Stoddart, will finally be up for discussion, and for the vote.
Today, Cllr. Stoddart put up a ‘stop press’ on that other website, where he claims to have heard that the leader of the IPG has been telecanvassing members of council to ask for their support for Cllr. George. Interestingly, Old Grumpy also says a rumour is being spread that his submission of the motion of no confidence is a personal attack.
Like Old Grumpy, I’ve also heard a few rumours regarding the squeaky bums in the IPG over this vote. I’ve also heard on good authority that even the Labour councillors have received cold-calls, canvassing support for Cllr. George.
These rumours were about long before the release of today’s Western Telegraph, which I think provides a clear answer as to which way Labour will be going on this vote.
In what is an unprecedented opinion piece for the ‘newspaper that fights for Pembrokeshire,’ Cllr. Paul Miller, the leader of Labour on the council today explains the whole situation methodically, but simply. From the safeguarding reports, to the handling of it by senior councillors, including Cllr. Huw George. It’s well worth a read, and piles further pressure on the county’s sixty councillors to vote with their conscience.

Well he survived the vote of no confidence and now he should resign before the report on Monday.
Leader Jamie Adams has seen the report and he was urging his troops to support Cllr Huw George, so, presumably, the council must have been given a clean bill of health.
Not often wrong Mike! It just shows how thick skinned they are. Time for the Cabinet to resign I think, along with the Chief Executive.
Does this include his own office?
