Partygoers

Partygoers

An eagle-eyed reader has pointed out to JW that a small change has been made to the section of Pembrokeshire County Council’s website which lists councillors and their contact details.

Whilst on this section, readers can browse through the county’s sixty representatives sorting them by three means – in alphabetical order of their surname or their electoral division, or in relation to their political affiliations.

Whereas the latter used to sort Conservative, Labour, Plaid Cymru and IPG councillors as belonging to ‘Groups,’ members of formally constituted groups on the council are now more accurately referred to as ‘parties’ – including the IPG!

The ‘Party’ label is also included on each and every councillor’s individual profile containing their contact details, and their membership of a party, or, if they are true independents who were able to overcome the psychological pack instinct phenomenon, states “Not affiliated to any group.”

It reconfirms the truth as you know it, and I happen to think this new wave of transparency is a breath of fresh air – if it was intentional, of course!

If it wasn’t intentional, then the screen-grabs below will be available long after the word ‘Party’ is altered to ‘Groups,’ ‘Political Groups,’ ‘Group membership,’ ‘Grouping,’ or ‘Affiliation,’ or other truth-escaping label.

Exposed at last by an own goal!

  • As expected, the correct label of ‘party’ has now been blotted out in favour of ‘group’!

Nothing to do with this website, I’m sure!
