Vetus grumpus

Vetus grumpus

Readers may have noticed that the author of that other website, Old Grumpy, has been dragged kicking and screaming into the twentieth century.

Only another 113 years to go before he catches up with the rest of us, then!

Thanks to an all-new website, at the same oldgrumpy.co.uk address, readers now only have the content left to complain about!

“It’s a vast improvement on having to wade through huge slabs of text” said one reader in an email that arrived in my inbox, who continued: “However, not too keen on the colour scheme – far too vivid. I think it will give readers a mega headache after a short period of time (5 minutes or less).”

I resisted the temptation to say Grumpy’s content alone turns his readers’ brains to mush in under sixty seconds.

Whilst jacobwilliams.com clearly remains way out in front, this new chapter has the potential to erode my audio/visual edge within the Pembrokeshire blogosphere.

Mike’s already making stellar use of the bells-and-whistles his new site enables, and we’re promised there’s more to come as he delves further into his photo album of the Pembroke Dock grant scheme properties over the coming weeks.

Old Grumpy’s vast back-catalogue of weekly fossils will continue to petrify under a layer of silt at the old site – but the dinosaur says the freedom of his new setup means he’ll no longer be updating exclusively on a Thursday night.

Or, as he says, he hopes to be “more regular in future” – I’ve heard prunes can work wonders.

For the time being he isn’t allowing reader comments, which is a shame because it could have provided us with some content worth reading.

The design of Old Grumpy’s site is much improved, but I am sure it would reach greater heights of user satisfaction if it was made interactive.

Interacting with known delinquents is a crime in Russia, and there tends to follow a Summons from the Unity of Thought Police.

So beware the heavy hand of the Kremlin on Cleddau Unity Police (KOCUP).

P.S. To have unity of thought you need thought in the first place – so just ignore my musing.
